WHO I AM

Dùbh Studio is the trading name of Pam McCrone, an independent fashion product and technical consultant based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

I am responsible for the personal information described in this notice.

Email: studio@dubh-studio.com

WHAT INFORMATION I COLLECT

When you enquire, book an appointment or work with me, I may collect your name, business name, contact details, appointment information, correspondence and information you choose to share about your project.

If you become a client, I also keep information needed to manage our work together, including contracts, invoices and payment records.

My website and booking providers may collect technical information, such as your IP address, browser, device and pages visited, to operate and secure their services.

Please avoid including sensitive personal information or other people’s personal details unless they are necessary for your enquiry or our agreed work.

HOW AND WHY I USE YOUR INFORMATION

I use your information to:

  • Respond to enquiries and discuss suitable support.

  • Arrange appointments and send booking communications.

  • Prepare proposals and deliver agreed services.

  • Manage client relationships, invoices and business records.

  • Maintain the security and operation of my website and business.

MY LAWFUL BASES

Where you enquire about or purchase services for yourself, I use information as necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract, or to fulfil that contract.

For enquiries and work involving contacts at client organisations, and for routine business administration and security, I rely on legitimate interests: communicating with prospective clients, delivering consultancy services and running my business responsibly.

I rely on legal obligation where information must be retained or disclosed to comply with applicable law.

If you subscribe to The Studio, I use your email address to send insights, articles, industry news and updates about upcoming courses from Dùbh Studio. I rely on your consent to send these emails.

You can withdraw your consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter or by emailing studio@dubh-studio.com.

WHO RECEIVES YOUR INFORMATION

I use Squarespace to host my website and Acuity Scheduling to manage appointment bookings.

I also use Google Workspace for correspondence. This provider receives information where needed to supply their services. Professional advisers or public authorities may also receive information where necessary for advice, legal obligations or the protection of legal rights.

I do not sell your personal information.

INTERNATIONAL PROCESSING

I use Google Workspace for business email. Google and its service providers may process personal information outside the UK, including in the United States.

Google’s data-processing terms provide for applicable international transfer safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum where required.

For more information or a copy of the relevant safeguards, please email studio@dubh-studio.com.

HOW LONG I KEEP INFORMATION

I keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected.

For enquiries that do not lead to work, I retain information while the enquiry remains active and delete it when it is no longer needed for follow-up.

For clients and appointment bookings, I retain relevant information during our work together and afterwards where needed for agreed follow-up, accounting, legal obligations or resolving disputes. I review these records regularly and remove information that is no longer necessary.

Accounting and tax records are normally retained for at least five years after the relevant Self Assessment submission deadline, or longer where legally required.

If you subscribe to The Studio, I keep your subscription active until you unsubscribe or the newsletter ends. After you unsubscribe, I retain only the minimal information needed to record your preference and prevent further marketing emails.

Information that is no longer needed is securely deleted or anonymised.

COOKIES AND WEBSITE ANALYTICS

This website uses cookies to support its operation and security. With your permission, Squarespace also uses analytics cookies to help me understand how visitors use the website and improve its content.

You can accept or decline non-essential cookies, or choose your preferences, through the cookie banner. You can change your choice later using the cookie preferences control on the website.

YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access your personal information, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, restrict its use or receive certain information in a portable format.

YOUR RIGHT TO OBJECT

You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can also object to the use of your information for direct marketing at any time.

Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

To exercise your rights, email studio@dubh-studio.com.

PROVIDING INFORMATION

You do not have to provide optional information. However, without essential contact or project details, I may be unable to respond to your enquiry, arrange an appointment or provide the requested service.

CONCERNS AND COMPLAINTS

If you have concerns about how I handle your information, please contact me at studio@dubh-studio.com.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.

CHANGES TO THIS NOTICE

I will update this notice when my services or information-handling practices change. The latest version will appear on this page.
