ARCHIVE BY ALEXA FOR M&S
HERITAGE REIMAGINED.
THE COLLECTION.
Vintage character. Contemporary perspective.
Reworking pieces from the M&S archive through modern fabrics, updated colours, and fresh styling. Close collaboration across design, technical, and manufacturing brought each piece to life.
Working directly with Alexa Chung, the M&S design and buying teams, and premium international manufacturers to bring the vision to life.
The strategic focus centered on aligning technical development with creative design intent while securing critical launch deadlines.
Through meticulous attention to detail, archive fits, silhouettes, and construction methods were completely refined to deliver a commercially viable product tailored for a contemporary customer.
THE CONTRIBUTION.
Reinterpreting archive garments required balancing design vision with manufacturing realities. Refining fabric, fit and construction for a contemporary customer. Balancing manufacturing demands with the character of the archive originals.
This collaborative process ensured every practical manufacturing choice actively protected product integrity, translating the original character into a compelling contemporary range.
CREATIVE INTENT, PRACTICAL DECISIONS.
“This second season is the one that has us reaching for our wallets. Think same purity of fashion content, approximately 50% more wearability. At the London fashion week preview, there was a lot of fashion-editor love for an Ellery herringbone coat, just oversized enough to be special.”
— Jess Cartner-Morley, Fashion Editor, The Guardian.
